Robert Kanniard became the Knights third 4-time District Champ, joining Brett Donner and Blaine Woszczak. Kanniard also picked up three more wins, pushing his career total to 157, which is one away from tying the all-time Shore Conference record. In all, the Knights crowned four champs, improving their streak to 7 years with multiple champs.

12/22: @ Ocean Township  -  Early season quad for the young, but talented, Knights pits them against one of the B-North favorites in Ocean, along with Matawan and RBR.



The Knights took some lumps last season as they began a rebuild. Last year's team was the youngest in the Shore Conference, with just a single senior. This year, they double that number, with two seniors. So while they remain one of the younger programs in the Shore, they look to take a big step forward in 2019 with the experience the underclassmen got last season, as well as from the time put in this offseason.

The strength of the lineup looks to be from 145-182. Leading the charge is senior Robert Kanniard (45-1 / 1st SCT, 1st D23, 1st R6, 2nd NJ) a State runner-up last season who enters the year with 119 career wins, 40 away from breaking the Shore Conference record. He's pretty good. He's joined in this stretch by Jake Whitworth (28-6 / 1st D23) who is coming off an outstanding rookie campaign, Shane Golomb (15-11 / 3rd D23), Brendan Newberry (4-6), Gus Setteducato, who won 11 bouts for Wall as a freshman in 2017, and Nico Vargas (24-14 / 3rd D14), a transfer from JP Stevens. 

With losing only one senior to graduation, it should be no surprise that everyone is back down low. Juniors Cole Meyer (18-15 / 1st D23) and Tyler Ferris (17-8 / 3rd D23) give the Knights a solid 1-2 punch at 106-113, and Jacob Glantzman, Mike Bruno, and Mike Farrell are capable of breakout years, and if so, this has potential to be an extremely good, and deep, bunch.

Up top, Patrick Gambino, Jack Wolter, and Jon Ruvalcaba all received valuable experience in the upperweights as underclassmen, and will be looking to take the next step in 2019.

This is another team that will be very interesting to watch. They went through some growing pains last year to get here, but if this team stays healthy, and everything falls into place, this is going to be a very tough, balanced, lineup that is capable of contending for the B-North and CJG3 titles.
